The 130th winner of the 'New 1000 Guineas Stakes', held on Wednesday 26th May 1943 over the Bunbury Mile of the July Course, was Herringbone (15/2), a bay filly by King Salmon out of Schiaparelli, owned by the 17th Earl of Derby. The winner won by a neck in 1 minute 41 secs, with a length and a half back to the third. A field of 12 runners contested the race which was worth £7500 (Equivalent to £324,800 in 2017)
